Disco and Gospel legend dies after ill health battle
Tragic news today that we're sad to pass on: the original disco diva Loleatta Holloway has unfortunatly passed away at the age of 64 following a brief illness.
The big-voiced powerhouse started off in the early 70's making gospel and Rn'B records before she re-launched herself at the tail end of the decade as a disco artist. The songs she subsequently recorded including big hits such as 'Love Sensation' and 'Hit and Run' are not only remembered today as classics of their genre, but were an indelible influence on the early house music scene. Holloway's best known contributions were as the sampled vocalist on both Black Box's 'Ride on Time' and Marky Mark's 'Good Vibrations' and her vocals continue to be remixed and released today. Have a listen to 'Love Sensation' below and enjoy a legend in her prime.
