Live Report: New Valley Wolves at The Button Factory
Continuing our series of performances live from The Button Factory in Dublin, hard rock duo New Valley Wolves brought their thunderous sound to a very special set.
Dublin duo New Valley Wolves have developed a well-deserved reputation as one of the fiercest live outfits Ireland has to offer, and they offered plenty of evidence to bolster that claim at the Button Factory last night.
Over on the Hot Press YouTube channel, childhood-friends-turned-bandmates Jonny Lucey and Baz Joyce combined their riotous energy with complex musical elements. Unmistakably talented players, they offered a unique fusion of blues and hard rock.
Before gigging came to a halt amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the band enjoyed a series of high-profile support slots alongside rock heavyweights. With a #1 single in the rock charts, New Valley Wolves have now firmly claimed their place among Ireland's best and brightest new rock bands.
In this powerful live performance, the band's edgy hard rock tunes are delivered with a powerful punch. The duo opened with a track that rails against cancel culture – "got to cancel cancel culture / one hand attacks the other" can be heard overtop a roaring, garage rock electric guitar.
With excellent pacing and ace drumming, New Valley Wolves continued their performance nearly without stopping, starting at a deafening decibel and continuing to raise the bar and the energy throughout their 32 minute set.
