The new edition of the Hot Press Lockdown Sessions' Y&E Series continues tonight – supported by the Department of Media, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport and the Gaeltacht.
Born into the legendary Black Family, award-winning artist Aoife Scott is steadily rising to the top of the traditional and folk music scene in Ireland. Her new album Homebird was released earlier this year.
Beginning her charismatic set with a beautiful song written for her newborn niece, 'Another Reason', Scott described how the birth of the new family member "became another reason for the sun to shine".
Accompanied by guitarist Andy Meaney and foster dog Belle, Scott segued into a track from the new album, 'Building Up and Tearing England Down', inspired by The Dubliners.
Written in April, the track 'Sweet October' was a hope for the autumn (despite the fact that Scott was unable to perform in Germany due to Covid-19), and remains an emotional ode to the season's restoration.
Finishing up with a rousing rendition of Fleetwood Mac's hit 'Everywhere', Aoife's voice and stage presence remain more captivating as ever.
