After a spectacular re-enactment of The Band's swan-song documentary concert in Wexford last weekend, The 'Live' Last Waltz has now been confirmed for Derry as well as Dublin.
The Derry show takes place at the Millennium Forum on Saturday September 25, with the Dublin date preceding it on August 21 at the Olympia.
The show features a ten piece band, full brass section, and special guests who will commemorate the history and music of The Band and what is regarded as the greatest rock and roll concert of all time. The Last Waltz was a 'farewell to the road' concert in San Francisco in 1976.
Special guests on the night performing alongside The Band included Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Ronnie Hawkins, Muddy Waters, Dr. John, Neil Young, Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond, Joni Mitchell, Paul Butterfield, poet Lawrence Ferlingetti and many more. A film of the event was directed by Martin Scorsese.
