Most Covid-19 restrictions are to be removed by October 22.
As part of a Government plan to be approved by Cabinet today, live events could be returning as early as next week – with September 6 being a key date in the easing of restrictions.
According to The Journal, the plan was set out in a Cabinet Covid-19 sub-committee meeting yesterday, and Taoiseach Micheál Martin will deliver an address this evening to officially announce the reopening roadmap.
From September 6, live events could be allowed to go ahead in indoor venues, operating at a 60% capacity for fully vaccinated people. For outdoor events, 75% of the venue's capacity will be able to attend, if they're vaccinated.
Although events allowing both vaccinated and unvaccinated people may be permitted, it is likely that the capacity will be reduced further.
Live music is also expected to be allowed at weddings from September 6. Before the end of September, it is also hoped that a trial event in a nightclub will go ahead.
If the Government reach a 90% vaccination target, all Covid-19 restrictions could be scrapped by October 22.

Thank god we're getting back to live events but still what's the use in 75% capacity for outdoor gigs? The live entertainment/events industry needs fully capacity to function. https://t.co/LJGbwLyT8l

Sure that's great... Wait till the weather starts to turn and then allow outdoor gigs with 75% capacity. So we won't die of covid, but will probably die of exposure instead!#IrishMusicParty https://t.co/YyiRk2oUzs

Gigs are likely going to be more expensive initially, as they return at lower capacity, and I think in the spirit of supporting the industry we just need to pay a bit more if we can afford to. I've missed them so much, such a vital, life affirming part of life.
