Live At Carnegie Hall
LONG DELAYED LIVE ALBUM IS WORTH THE WAIT
Back in ’04, celebrated Brazilian tunesmith Caetano Veloso was invited to curate his own Perspective series at the Carnegie Hall and he invited his long-time friend and collaborator David Byrne to join him for a very special show. Strangely, it has only now made its way onto CD. Serving as an excellent introduction to both the former trail-blazer of the ‘60s Tropicalia scene, and to the ex-Talking Heads member’s latter day career, a sense of fun and mutual affection oozes from the performance. The concert features seven songs by the South American, six by the Scottish/Canadian and five of them are played together. Long-time fans will be thrilled to hear the duo swap languages on ‘Dreamworld: Marco De Canaveses’ and both world music aficionados and affirmed Byrne acolytes will love their take on the likes of ‘The Revolution.’ Good stuff.
