Off Cyrus's upcoming album Thin Line
Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley's dad and the singer of 'Achy Breaky Heart', has shared a cover of the Don Williams 1978 classic 'Tulsa Time'. The rollicking rendition features Joe Perry of Aerosmith's guitar heroics.
Cyrus has stayed busy in recent years, starring in, writing, and executive producing the television show Still the King. The show stars Cyrus as a one-hit wonder turned Elvis impersonator trying to get his life back on track.
Before joking about the closeness of Cyrus's character to his real-life figure, keep in mind that Cyrus has released thirteen studio albums, logged several country hits, and co-starred on his daughter's highly successful show Hannah Montana.
Meanwhile, the track represents a bright spot in what has been a depressing couple weeks of news from Joe Perry. The Aerosmith guitarist collapsed onstage Sunday night and was rushed to the hospital; he is now fortunately in stable condition.
Perry has also recently discussed the possibility of Aerosmith's final tour being next year. Though Steven Tyler stated that the farewell tour was a go, Perry voiced reluctance about the band finally coming to an end, saying "it's really hard for me to imagine a last gig".
'Tulsa Time' will be included on Cyrus's upcoming album Thin Line, which the singer describes as a "tip of the hat" to '70s classic rock and country legends such as Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard. The album is available for pre-order on iTunes and will be released September 9.
