LISTEN: David Lyttle Releases Christmas At Home Beat Tape
The drummer, composer, and producer has recorded a beat tape album of Christmas flips, using samples from obscure Christmas albums.
MOBO and Urban Music Award nominated Irish jazz drummer/composer/producer, David Lyttle, has released Christmas At Home, a beat tape of Christmas flips.
Beat tapes, a collection of sometimes unfinished instrumental productions designed to showcase a producer's skills, have today become an accepted release format as popular as their close relative, the mixtape.
Each track on the beat tape has been taken from an obscure Christmas album, making for an interesting and unique listen.
Done the traditional way, using the Akai MPC, this beat tape has a nostalgic, vintage feel - perfect for the holiday season. The hip-hop twist on these holiday tracks brings lively modern beats into these traditional tracks.
Featuring tracks: 'Believe In Christmas', 'Winter Soul', 'Elves At Work', 'Christmas Bells', 'Winter Wonder', 'Drummer Boyz', 'Kings', 'Christmas Is Here', 'Soul Carol', and 'Christmas Morning', listeners can feast their ears on a slew of unfamiliar seasonal tunes.
Check out Christmas At Home, the beat tape, below.
