Liam Gallagher and John Squire announce new album alongside single and Dublin tour date
Joining the duo at their Dublin show is singer-songwriter Jake Bugg. Tickets for the Dublin 3 Olympia gig start from €82.75 and go on sale Friday February 2 at 9:30AM.
Liam Gallagher and John Squire have announced details of their self-titled debut album (out March 1), along with a tour which includes a 3Olympia Date on Saturday March 16, 2024. The pair have also shared the track ‘Mars To Liverpool’.
The two Mancunian music legends ignited a wave of excitement with their debut single ‘Just Another Rainbow’, which united the attitude of the Oasis frontman with the guitar talents of The Stone Roses’ axeman. The track shot to No.1 on the UK sales, downloads, vinyl and physical singles charts – marking Gallagher’s highest singles chart entry in fifteen years.
Long-terms friends, the idea of a collaboration started when Squire joined the singer on-stage at Knebworth. The album took shape in Los Angeles alongside rproducer Greg Kursti, who played bass throughout the record, while drums were performed by Joey Waronker (Beck, R.E.M., Atoms For Peace).
“I can't wait for people to hear the album,” said Gallagher. “I think the people that are into the Stone Roses and Oasis and that kinda thing, I think they'll fucking love it. It's spiritual, it's crucial.”
“It was really inspiring to have those Knebworth gigs fresh in my mind as I started writing,” added Squire.
“Then it was a case of trying to steer it away from all being too rocky, and trying to mix up the sentiments as well.
“I like the way that in some parts, it's quite melancholic and it can make you well up, but there are other parts that are kind of irreverent, rude or crude. There's a little bit of everything in there, I think it's a really good mix.”
The tour will see Liam and John lead a band completed by Barrie Cadogan (Little Barrie, Paul Weller) on bass and the aforementioned Waronker on drums.
Joining the duo at their Dublin show is singer-songwriter Jake Bugg. Tickets for the Dublin 3 Olympia gig start from €82.75 and go on sale Friday February 2 at 9:30AM.
