Kyle Falconer announces new album Lovely Night Of Terror
Lead singer of The View, Kyle Falconer, has announced his upcoming solo album, Lovely Night Of Terror, set to drop on March 27 via Modern Sky / Run On Records.
The forthcoming record follows 2025's The One I Love The Most.
Recorded in the Scottish singer-songwriter's La Sierra Casa studio in Alicante, Spain, Lovely Night Of Terror features Jamie Webster, Lottery Winners, Justin Hawkins and Dave McCabe.
"It was around Christmas in 2024, and we were out in the countryside in Spain, in the middle of nowhere," said Falconer. "There was nowhere to go, nowhere to hide, which gave the whole thing a strange but brilliant energy.
"All the songs I write have quite dark meanings, but they're also happy. I love that oxymoron. I love horror films and trying to capture that sense of collective madness."
Falconer has released the lead single of the record ‘Midas Touch’, which features The Libertines, Babyshambles and Puta Madres' Peter Doherty.
"I thought it would be cool to get someone to sing on it who wasn't known for doing pop, and Pete felt like an obvious choice," said Falconer. "He was playing in Edinburgh, so I took my kids to see him - and he had his baby there as well. It was a great moment.
"We were backstage during soundcheck and he was saying it sounded like Michael Jackson. It was funny singing and dancing along to it with him, just having a good time. Pete was one of my heroes growing up, so doing a song like that with him was pretty special."
Indie rock band The View were formed in Dundee, Scotland, in 2005. In 2017, following the 10th anniversary tour for their debut album Hats Off To The Buskers, the group went on a hiatus before reuniting in 2022.
In 2018, Falconer released his debut solo album, No Thank You.
