Kristofferson releases song about Sinead O'Connor
The new album Closer To the Bone by Kris Kristofferson includes a song ‘Sister Sinead’ which the American country legend penned as a tribute to the Irish artist.
The two met when Kristofferson comforted Sinead on stage in 1992 when she was booed by the crowd during a Bob Dylan 30th Anniversary concert a few days after tearing up a picture of the Pope on an American tv programme.
Part of the lyrics of ‘Sister Sinead’ refer to O’Connor as “that bald-headed brave little girl” and include the lines “Maybe she’s crazy, maybe she ain’t, but so was Picasso and so were the saints.”
Closer To the Bone was produced by Don Was and is released on the New West label.
