KNEECAP to play major Falls Park charity gig as part of Féile an Phobail
Tickets for the gig go on sale July 13 at 10a.m.
Kneecap have announced a charity gig in Falls Park, Belfast for August 6 .
The Irish rap trio have been announced as part of the line-up for the community arts festival Féile an Phobail, with all profits going to two Irish language projects in West Belfast and Derry.
Support for the gig will come from Bob Vylan, Miss Kannina, and Liambo Slice.
Organisers say that the gig will raise a six figure sum, with the majority of proceeds going to Glór na Móna, a prominent Irish language, community, and youth group based in the Whiterock and Upper Springfield areas of West Belfast. Two of the band's members, Mo Chara and Móglaí Bap, come from the area. The donation will go directly towards building Croí na Carraige, its new Irish-medium youth and community hub.
Also in benefit of the gig is the GAA club Seán Dolan’s GAC, which is based in Derry City, the home of Kneecap’s third member, DJ Próvaí.
The club say it aims to use the money to "launch an innovative Irish language initiative hub, An tSíol", which will deliver community-based programmes for club members and the wider community, including classes for adults and younger players.
"Kneecap not only speak out to assist communities but take actions too - this is yet another clear example of that, ensuring a huge amount will go into our community thanks to them," said festival director Kevin Gamble.
Féile an Phobail was established in 1988 as a direct response to the Troubles, and specifically after the events of March 1988, a traumatic 14-day cycle of violence during the Troubles which began with the funerals of three IRA members killed in Gibraltar.
The community of west Belfast came under intense media scrutiny and was described by the British Broadcasting Corporation as a "terrorist community".
Various local groups came together to organise a community festival in order to celebrate the creativity, energy and passion for the arts and sport that in West Belfast.
The 2026 edition is set to be the largest in its history, featuring over 700 events across more than 50 venues in Belfast. The festival directly overlaps with Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, which is being hosted in Belfast for the very first time.
Ben Nicky will headline the opening night on Saturday, July 25, before The 2 Johnnies & The Junior B All Stars perform outdoor folk and contemporary hits on Friday, July 31.
Also performing are The Saw Doctors and Aslan on Friday, August 7.
Tickets for the gig go on sale July 13 at 10a.m on Ticketmaster.
