Ken Sweeney announces reissue of Brian's debut album Understand
The reissue of Understood will feature four songs from the previously released Planes EP and unreleased track 'If You Knew'
Ken Sweeney of Brian has announced he will be releasing a reissue of their 1992 debut album, Understand, with the new title, Understood on August 29.
The album will be releasing under UK label Needle Mythology, founded by music journalist Pete Paphides.
“Music affected me so much growing up, I only wanted to make music that moved me emotionally and if it didn't happen, I wouldn't make records," said Sweeney.
Retitled to acknowledge the closure that comes with the passage of time, the album has been expanded to include the four songs from 1993’s Planes EP. Alongside a previously unheard track 'If You Knew', which was intended for the original album.
Brian began recording Understand in 1989 in West London, when Sweeney met Keith Cullen of Setanta Records, a fellow Dubliner.
"I hardly knew anyone, and the only way of making sense of things seemed to be writing songs," Sweeney added.
Sweeney is now the Showbiz Editor at the Irish Sun. He has made a number of radio documentaries about the likes of R.E.M and The Go-betweens.
The reissue of Understood will be available as CD and Vinyl in Tower Records upon its release.
