HP film critic Roe McDermott will conduct a Q&A with the director.
Academy Award nominee and IFTA winning Irish director and writer Juanita Wilson has just been confirmed to appear at the International Women's Day Film Festival on Thursday March 8.
A native of Dublin, Wilson initially came to prominence producing Inside I'm Dancing and H3. Her short film The Door earned an IFTA in 2009 and an Academy Award nomination in 2010, whilst her first feature-length picture As If I Am Not There scooped awards for Best Film, Best Script and Best Director at the 2011 IFTAs.
Following a screening of As If I Am Not There, Hot Press film critic Roe McDermott will conduct a Q&A with the acclaimed Dublin at the Light House cinema.
The first-ever International Women’s Day Film Festival will run in association with Hot Press and Concern Worldwide, with the Smithfield venue proudly present a series of intelligent and thought-provoking cinematic works over the course of the one-day event, including box office hits and award-winning films.
“We are delighted to launch the inaugural International Women’s Day Film Festival at the Light House cinema and to have Hot Press on board,” said Concern’s Liz Yeates. “In addition to having some remarkable and award-winning films on the schedule, we will highlight Concern’s work with women through a Women of Concern photo exhibition, talks and short films.”
It all takes place on Thursday March 8 from 4:40pm until 10:30pm. For more information, visit [link]www.lighthousecinema.ie[/link] or call Concern on 01 4178064. Tickets are available at a cost of €20 for a day ticket or €9 per feature film, with 50% of all proceeds going towards the Women of Concern group, supporting women’s projects in Bangladesh.
