John Robb launches Louder Than War label
The influential music website is putting its money where its mouth is.
Constantly finding new projects to keep enthused, and fresh from his return – and typically entertaining – Music Show appearance, John Robb has just announced plans to start his own label.
The Blackpool-born, influential punk figure set up the Louder Than War website back in 2010, and has seen it grow into quite the influential source of music reviews and discovery. Now, he has plans to expand further.
Louder Than War will become a label, as they start releasing some of the best emerging international talent on their very own 7" series.
Robb, a writer and musician in his own right, had this to say:
"There's so much great music out there that we cover on the Louder Than War website that we decided we just had to release some of it...
We will be eclectic, there are no boundaries to taste and we operate purely on instinct. If it feels good we release it.
We are international. Already lined up is Argentinian dark electronic music, UK garage indie, Dutch post punk, punk rock, indie rock, Indian black metal and Brighton pop noise...
We believe in the power of rock n roll. We are proof that music is more alive than ever, the doom mongers can monger and we will get on with the music. We are truly independent."
First up comes single release 'Surge Of Youth' from The Deadbeat Echoes, a young act from Cheshire that Robb describes as a "fab twisted guitar band".
Raised On Replicas, a Brighton group comprising two boys and two girls, will then put out their debut single 'OMG', followed by releases from the likes of Rats On Rafts and Fawn Spots.
Robb's own Membranes will also release two singles on Record Store Day (April 16), their first recordings in 22 years.
