The '60s icon is appearing as part of the Festival Of World Cultures.
Jane Birkin plays an ultra-rare gig in Dun Laoghaire’s Pavilion Theatre on August 29 as part of this year’s Festival Of World Cultures.
(In) famous for her heavy breathing on the Serge Gainsbourg-assisted ‘Je T’Aime… Moi Non Plus’ – tame stuff nowadays but considered pornographic in 1968 – she’ll be showcasing her latest Enfants d’Hiver album, which you can try before you buy at www.janebirkin-lesite.com.
Other highlights include:
August 29 – Dub Colossus @ Newtownsmith Main Stage, 6.30pm
August 30 – Oumou Sangare @ Newtownsmith Main Stage, 6.30pm
August 30 – Sain Zahoor @ Pavilion Theatre, 9pm
That’s just the merest tip of the iceberg, with dozens more acts from all five continents – see www.festivalofworldcultures.com for the full line-up.
