KNEECAP cancel upcoming U.S. tour dates due to time conflict with Mo Chara hearing
KNEECAP said they were forced to cancel the dates "due to the close proximity of our next court hearing in London on September 26 – as the British government continues its witch-hunt – with the start of the U.S. tour."
KNEECAP have announced the cancellation of all 15 U.S. tour dates planned for October, due to the timing of Mo Chara's upcoming court hearing in London.
"With every show fully sold out this is news we are sad to deliver," wrote KNEECAP in a statement today.
"But once we win our court case, which we will, we promise to embark on an even bigger tour to all you great heads."
The band confirmed their four Canadian shows will not be affected.
They also hinted at a "special" announcement coming next week.
"We will be sharing something very special for US fans next week so that we can still link in with you all in October," KNEECAP said.
"It's top secret for now but all will be revealed next week - stay tuned."
Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, aka Mo Chara, was charged with terrorism for allegedly holding a Hezbollah flag at a November 2024 concert. The band said the flag was thrown on stage and denied supporting Hezbollah.
They argued that the charges are politically motivated for their criticism of Israel's occupation of Gaza and of British presence in Ireland.
Mo Chara's hearing on August 20 concluded with judgment reserved. The next court date is set for September 26, where the judge will give a ruling as to whether a plea is required and if a full trial is to go ahead.
KNEECAP is set to play Electric Picnic on August 30.
