It's a Farmleigh affair
A diverse range of acts will take to the stage for the free Farmleigh Affair festival this August bank holiday weekend.
Sunday, August 5 features Damien Rice's cellist Vyvienne Long [pictured], who will be accompanied by fellow cellists and a jazz rhythm section. Dublin's North Strand Klezmer Band [pictured] will play the music of the Ashkenazi Jews and Sao Paulo's Clube do Balanco will bring their samba rock extravaganza to an Irish audience.
Acadian folksters The Bebert Orchestra will be followed up by the institution that is the Kilfenora Ceili band to round off Sunday's proceedings.
The medieval stylings of the Spooky Men's Chorale get things started on Bank Holiday Monday, August 6. They'll be followed by Scots Gaelic folk singer Julie Fowlis, and East African singer Dobet Gnahore.
Hometown boy Damien Dempsey (pictured) is sure to be a big draw and will be playing material from his new album To Hell Or Barbados. And while you may not have heard the name of Macedonia's Kocani Orchestra before, you've probably heard their signature brass and percussion sound on the soundtrack to the hit comedy Borat.
Away from the music, there'll also be organic fare to munch on, or you can bring your own spread and have a picnic.
The festival takes place in the grounds of Farmleigh House in Dublin's Phoenix Park. Entrance is free but tickets must be applied for in advance at www.farmleigh.ie.
