Irish Tour '74
Compiled from live recordings made at Belfast Ulster Hall, Dublin’s Carlton Cinema and Cork City Hall, Irish Tour ‘74 was another fine live album from the legendary guitarist, which has since sold over two million copies worldwide. The period was a tumultuous time in Belfast, but Rory opted to play a date in the city and was rewarded with one of his best shows. Director Tony Palmer filmed the tour and planned to do a TV special, but found the footage so good that he opted for a theatrical release. As such Irish Tour ‘74 could be considered the accompanying soundtrack album. A cracking record.
No 45 in 2009, as voted for by over 200 Irish musicians.
