Michael Kiwanuka shares that he is recovering from a stroke

Michael Kiwanuka revealed that he is in recovery from a stroke. In a post on Instagram, the singer explained that the stroke was brought on due to a brain bleed, which occured due to high blood pressure.

Kiwanuka said that his recovery led to the cancellation of several US shows, he is also unsure if he will be able to tour in the future, due to the severity of his brain injury.

"The brain injury I suffered was quite severe so there's a lot of rehab to be done, it's a long, tough journey ahead but I'm fighting to get better."

He was set to perform at All Together Now in 2025, however he was forced to cancel due to "continued illness."

The musician announced his fifth album Fudge in the same post. More information on the record will be announced soon.

He emphasised how much his new album means to him:

"I'm especially happy because the last few months I've been battling some health problems which would heavily hinder and get in the way of me making music for the forseeable future."

Michael Kiwanuka won the Mercury Prize in 2020 for his third album Kiwanuka, he was also nominated for his two previous records, 2012's Home Again and 2016's Love & Hate.
