Taylor Swift releases new album The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore

Taylor Swift has released her new album The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore.

Following her new single 'Patient Zero' earlier this week, Swift has announced the music video will premiere at the MTV VMAs on Sunday, September 27.

She teased the video with a trailer on her Instagram, it will feature Colin Farrell and Dakota Johnson, along with the US singer.

The Life of a Showgirl was released in October 2025. It was the global best-selling album of 2025, with songs including 'The Fate of Ophelia' and 'Opalite' reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Music Chart.

The deluxe version will feature four new songs, including 'Patient Zero', along with the LPs original tracklist.

"About a year ago, you guys did a truly unfathomable thing," Swift wrote in a post on Instagram.

"Something that completely blew my mind… You gave The Life of a Showgirl the biggest first week for an album in history. I took a trip to Sweden to celebrate with Max and Shellback, my two collaborators on this album. Really we just wanted to reflect and take in how grateful we were for the moment we were in, but there was a studio there and we did what we do when we feel anything at all: We wrote more songs.

"I hope you love them, because they were born out of pure gratitude for your exuberance for and celebration of the album we made."

Taylor Swift will be awarded with the inaugural artist director honour at the VMAs on Sunday. She is nominated for 11 other awards including for best album with The Life of a Showgirl; artist of the year; video of the year; best pop; best art direction, and best cinematography.
