Irish Premiere: No Oil Paintings release smouldering blues-folk track 'Something Like The Truth'
The Belfast quartet return with their socially conscious new track.
A harmony-driven track, with subtle banjos and basslines that work their way under the skin, 'Something Like The Truth' takes aim at the fake news, post-truth moment that we're living in.
The video blurs archive news footage and advertisements, with scenes of a woman rediscovering that she's not just a spectator of the relentless mediascape, and actually exists in the corporeal world.
The song's soaring backing vocals come courtesy of brothers Sean Doone (five-string banjo, acoustic) and James Doone (bass, mandolin), as well as those of drummer/producer George Sloan, with lead singer Chris Kelly delivering an impassioned plea with his lyrics.
