Two shows in the castles of Tipperary have just been announced by the group.
The Irish Chamber Orchestra will enchant audiences for two nights at different venues in County Tipperary this September.
Based at the University of Limerick, the group will play The Ormond Castle (pictured above) on September 25 and The Cahir Castle on September 26 in Carrick on Suir and Cahir, respectively.
It will be another collaboration between the orchestra, guitarist Jimmy Smyth, and vocalist Karrie Holmes after the “I create” online series last year.
The success of their cover of 'Life on Mars' by David Bowie led to a forthcoming album and this pair of live shows.
As special guests, the fiddler Martin Murray will also play the first show at the Ormond Castle with Rockwell Music Academy appearing the following night.
The Irish Chamber Orchestra are described in the press release accompanying the announcement as a collective "mixing traditional repertoire with new commissions, and collaborating with everyone from DJs to dance companies, the ICO pushes the boundaries of what a chamber orchestra can do." Fans of Electric Picnic may have seen them perform as Mozartfest at previous editions of Ireland's biggest music festival.
Tickets in pods of two for the Irish Chamber Orchestra's shows with Jimmy Smyth and Karrie Holmes are available here.
