While the cancellation of the Killarney Festival Of Music And Food might leave some disappointed, an army of homegrown acts are determined to put on a carnival in the Kingdom
Walking On Cars (pictured), Mick Flannery and Damien Dempsey are among the Irish acts who will head to the INEC this weekend, following the cancellation of the Killarney Festival of Music and Food.
The weekender was scratched last night, with organisers blaming circumstances out of their control; a host of homegrown heroes won't let that stop them from bringing a storming show to the Kingdom this weekend.
According to Patrick O'Donoghue, Managing Director of the INEC, a number of artists contacted the venue directly, eager to provide an alternative following the late cancellation. “They are determined not to disappoint their loyal fans," he said, "and, as our venues have no acts scheduled for this weekend, we are able to oblige.”
That means that the likes of Damien Dempsey, Mundy, Little Hours, Mick Flannery and more will be playing across the two days, while the legendary Aprés Match head a comedy line-up hosted in the INEC's Acoustic Club.
The charge is led by Kerry's own Walking On Cars. In a statement, they said: "We're very disappointed to hear that Killarney Festival isn't going ahead. We've never cancelled a show before and we don't intend on starting now."
With all of the proceeds will go to Cuan Counselling and the Tralee Oncology unit, it's a fantastic turn of events in what looked like being a sorry story; [link]ticketmaster.ie[/link] is the destination to book your tickets.
Meanwhile, Ticketmaster is also the place to go for refunds if you had been planning on hitting the fallen festival. Those who made card bookings made over the phone or online will be fully refunded within 5-7 days without lifting a finger; if you bought tickets at an outlet, simply return there with your tickets to ensure you're not left out of pocket,
