Six Irish acts have made Ticketmaster's prestigious list of top emerging talent.
Ticketmaster Ireland have revealed their 'New For 2020' list – predicting the artists and bands set to make major waves on the live scene this year. Joining international acts Arlo Parks, Aitch, Lennon Stella and Scarypoolparty, six Irish artists have made 2020's list: Inhaler, Uly, JC Stewart, Lydia Ford, Malaki and Kitt Philippa.
Hand-picked by Ticketmaster's Artist Services team, the list has featured several heavy-hitters in the past. Last year's 'New For 2019' included Mercury Prize nominee Slowthai, singer-songwriter Freya Ridings and Brit Award winner Tom Walker.
This year's list looks just as promising, with many of the acts set to make appearances at iconic Dublin venues such as the Olympia Theatre, Whelan's, The Sound House and The Sugar Club over the coming months.
Dublin group Inhaler have enjoyed a triumphant year – selling out two nights at the Button Factory, supporting Noel Gallagher at Malahide Castle, signing to Polydor Records and hitting the road with Blossoms. Their highly anticipated debut album looks set to cement the band's explosive rise to superstardom.
Hot Press favourite Malaki has also made the list. With introspective lyrics, immersive production and a commanding live presence, the Dublin rapper has captured the imagination of his generation. He's set to follow the release of his Butterfly Boy EP and his sold-out Academy 2 gig with a Whelan's headliner on March 21.
On the back of debut album, Human, 2020 also looks set to be a major year for Kitt Philippa – winner of the prestigious Northern Irish Music Prize 2018. In his 9-star album review, Hot Press's Peter McGoran called Human "album of the year material."
"I'm so grateful to be a featured artist in Ticketmaster Ireland's 'New for 2020'!" Kitt Philippa revealed in a statement. "Live music can be such a special experience and I'm looking forward to performing this year and being part of the soundtrack.”
The other Irish artists featured on the 'New for 2020' list include genre-blending pop project Uly, Northern Irish singer-songwriter and Lewis Capaldi co-writer JC Stewart, and Co. Mayo pop artist Lydia Ford.
