Indie-pop duo Lucius announce new album and Dublin headline show

'Second Nature' from Lucius is out April 8th.

As Lucius announce their highly-anticipated new album Second Nature, the duo of Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe are slated to play The Button Factory, Dublin this year.

Presented by singular artists, the acclaimed indie pop pair will take to the stage on September 17th, 2022. Tickets for the Button Factory gig from €25 will be available this Friday, January 14th at 10am. The duo last played a headline show at the Academy in 2016 on their Good Grief tour.

New album Second Nature is set to be released April 8th, described as a portrait of Holly and Jess' shared reflection, chronicling each other’s seismic life shifts — motherhood, divorce, unplanned career pauses — and setting it to music."

Produced by Dave Cobb and Brandi Carlile, the album features ten new songs, including the first single, 'Next To Normal,' which arrived yesterday.

Second Nature marks their first new album since 2016’s Good Grief. The band's tour includes dates with Brandi Carlile. The album, recorded at Nashville’s storied RCA Studio A, features contributions from Drew Erickson, Rob Moose, and Gabriel Cabezas, plus backing vocals from Carlile and Sheryl Crow. The album arrives after the band’s recent collaboration with the War on Drugs.

“It is a record that begs you not to sit in the difficult moments, but to dance through them,” said Lucius’ Jess Wolfe in a statement.

“It touches upon all these stages of grief—and some of that is breakthrough, by the way. Being able to have the full spectrum of the experience that we have had, or that I’ve had in my divorce, or that we had in lockdown, having our careers come to a halt, so to speak. I think you can really hear and feel the spectrum of emotion and hopefully find the joy in the darkness. It does exist. That’s why we made Second Nature and why we wanted it to sound the way it did: our focus was on dancing our way through the darkness.”
