The music writers association has signed a multi-year agreement with Yangaroo.
The way music gets from record labels and indie artists to broadcasters and music reviewers is about to get a lot more secure and easy to use.
IASCA, Ireland's music writers association, have just announced a multi-year deal with Canadian tech solutions company Yangaroo that will start in the last quarter of 2015.
Yangaroo's Digital Media Distribution System (DMDS) has been successfully delivering music securely and electronically for major and independent record labels and other content owners to radio broadcasters and other destinations in North America and other territories for over a decade.
What will it mean for artists, labels and the media in Ireland? The highest quality audio, watermarked, broadcast ready files, instantly, securely and inexpensively in the format which they prefer to receive it.
DMDS is for exclusive use to pre-approved recipients, and these releases are easily accessible in one library via computer or mobile device.
"The Canadian Music Industry led the world in the move to digital delivery of music to broadcasters beginning in 2003 virtually all music that is heard on radio in Canada is delivered via DMDS," says Yangaroo vice chairman Cliff Hunt. "We have, of course expanded into the US and other territories since then, and are excited to have Ireland and IASCA leading the way in Europe.”
Sinead Troy, General Manager of IASCA and DMDS Ireland, commented: “It’s an exciting time for us, there is no doubt this is a Irish music industry solution, to an Irish music industry problem."
