Prolific muso produces another enjoyable alt. pop opus
Erstwhile member of Efterklang and occasional session musician for Zooey Deschanel, M. Ward and more, Peter Broderick, adds to his slew of solo recordings with the tender and tunesome Http://itstartshear.com. Featuring mostly guitar and voice-based compositions, the album is a little like the musical equivalent of a onesie – i.e. it’s a warm but not necessarily cool experience. ‘A Tribute To Our Letter Writing Days’ and the delicate sounds of the intriguingly titled ‘Colin’ are definite standouts and the electro-ish detour of ‘Blue’ makes for a welcome change of pace. Recommended for fans of Nils Frahm and Library Tapes.
