Hozier storms US charts; enters at No. 2
Bray bluesman sells close to 60,000 albums in first week.
There was never any real doubt, but Hozier's place as a global sensation was lent further credence today, as his album stormed straight to No. 2 in the Billboard 200 chart.
The self-titled LP sold 58,000 copies its first week on sale; enough to grab the top spot on many weeks, though country superstar Jason Aldean ensured his second No. 1 with mammoth sales.
Hozier's sales were undoubtedly boosted by his Saturday Night Live appearance at the weekend, and, with a string of sold-out dates across the US lined up for the next few weeks, it seems fair to surmise that the soulful singer-songwriter will be resident in the upper reaches of the chart for quite some time.
