The Hot Sprockets' former frontman addresses his mental health issues on uplifting new solo single 'Transcend'
The new single, 'Transcend', comes from Wayne Soper's latest musical venture, Midnight Wayne.
Soon after the beloved Dublin group The Hot Sprockets parted ways last year, frontman Wayne Soper announced his new solo vehicle, Midnight Wayne. The project has seen the multi-instrumentalist exploring a brand new alt-pop sound, and showcasing his talents in home-studio experimentation.
Writing, recording and playing everything from bass to synths solo, the new venture has given Wayne a newfound sense of freedom outside of the commitments of a touring rock band. His first single, 'Someone Like You', was released in March, and explores his new beginnings against a backdrop of psychedelic pop.
Wayne has now continued his journey with a brand new single, 'Transcend', which deals directly with his experiences going on anti-depressants. Although inspired by seemingly dark subject matter, 'Transcend' is an uplifting pop track with a gorgeous summertime energy. The deeply personal track was written and produced by Wayne at his own home.
