Hot for 2020 International Acts: Celeste

The Brighton soul singer has come charging into the New Year, having been named winner of the Brits Rising Star Award. Previous honourees include Florence and the Machine, Adele and Sam Smith. So no pressure on the 25-year-old, who began writing songs as a teenager before being signed by Lily Allen to her bespoke label at Warner. Celeste lists Billie Holiday, Kanye West and Frank Ocean as influences  – all bases covered then – and has already sold out Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London.
