Happy Mondays to play Cyprus Avenue in Cork
The Manchester band is back on tour to celebrate their greatest hits.
The Happy Mondays have announced a thirty date Greatest Hits Tour during the October, November and December months in 2019 and are stopping by Cork for an intimate show in Cyprus Avenue.
They will play the esteemed Cork venue on December 3.
Legendary Jon Da Silva will be the supporting act for the night, a key influential figure in the early UK house scene.
“Be great to be back out on the road with Happy Mondays for some pre-Christmas partying!! Looking forward to playing all the hits and more at these shows," says Happy Mondays front-man Shaun Ryder.
Percussionist Bez is "really excited" for the upcoming tour and "can't wait to do some freak dancing".
Rowetta on vocals adds that the Manchester band and its fans are "like family to me and I still love singing these songs as much as I did in 1990.”
The Happy Mondays were the pioneers of the Madchester sound of the '90s, configuring the music of their beloved funk, rock, psychedelia and house in with the boom of the decade's rave scene.
In 2016, they were gifted the Ivor Novello's Inspiration Award, solidifying their legacy as British cultural phenomenons.
The show will inevitably perform the timeless hits of the Happy Mondays such as 'Step On', 'Kinky Afro', 'Hallelujah', 'W.F.L.', 'Loose Fit', 'Judge Fudge' and '24 Hour Party People', and much, much more.
Tickets are priced at €43.50 and will go on-sale this Monday, June 10 at 10am from Old Oak, Eventbrite and the Cyprus Avenue website.
