A new venue in Sligo is making serious waves, with an impressive series of shows over the coming month offering the promise of bigger and better things to come
HamsandwicH (pictured) are the latest leading Irish act to confirm for hmvsoundgarden – the new venue which has started to make impressive waves in Sligo. The No.1 hit-making Irish outfit – who featured on the front cover of the 900th issue of Hot Press early in 2015 – play the capital of the North West on Saturday March 26.
Swedish DJ Otto Knows, Ryan Sheridan, Daithí and Ministry of Sound are among the acts that have recently taken to the stage in the new multi-purpose venue.
Formerly a nightclub known as The Velvet Room, hmvsoundgarden is the biggest music venue in the North West of Ireland, with a capacity of 1,500.
"A new state of the art sound system has been installed,” a spokesman revealed, "along with a brand new stage and a new focus – to bring some of the best bands from Ireland and abroad to Sligo, a too-often-ignored region in Ireland's live music landscape."

St. Patrick's Week will be a big one at the venue, with Aussie DJ Will Sparks in on March 16, and world music legends Kíla and Rhob Cunningham taking centre-stage on Saturday March 19.
Then, a week later, HamsandwicH will make their debut on the hmvsoundgarden stage, in what promises to be a great night for fans of rock music in Sligo.
