HAIM are BBC's Sound of 2013
The US sibling trio claimed the new-year BBC honour...
The LA sister-group have beaten off competition from a whole bunch of exciting new artists to claim the BBC - Sound of 2013 award. HAIM join the likes of Jessie J, Keane, Ellie Goulding, Adele, and 2012's winner Michael Kiwanuka in picking up the new year prize.
The American trio topped the shortlist of 15 artists, and were joined in the top 5 by Aluna George, Angel Haze, Laura Mvula and Chvrches.
BBC Radio One DJ Huw Stephens said: "Haim have an unapologetic passion for music that shines in their songs. They're brilliant musicians who have a real talent for tunes that merge their tales of growing up in the 21st Century with a classic songwriting ability."
Watch out for an exclusive Hot Press interview with Este, Danielle and Alana Haim which will feature in our first edition of 2013 due to hit shelves on January 17. The new-year issue will also feature our very own "Hot for 2013" chosen by our trusted team of people in the know!
