Glad All Over
First album in seven years from Dylan Jnr. & Co...
If ‘Reboot The Mission’ - the best track on The Wallflowers’ return to the fray following a seven year hiatus - sounds like a cross between The Clash’s ‘Train In Vain’ and Big Audio Dynamite’s ‘E=MC2’ then there is a good reason for it. Not only does it feature former Clash man Mick Jones, it’s also one of the most satisfying things he’s done in a while and the least Wallflowers sounding track here.
An urgent, edgy album for the times we live in Glad All Over finds the Wallflowers updating their sound with songs like the Springsteen-esque, ‘Hospital For Sinners’ and the polemical ‘It Won’t Be Long (‘Till We’re Not Wrong Anymore’) signalling a new found political consciousness that would make Jakob Dylan’s dad proud!
