George's Street mural celebrates 1916 women
Countess Markievicz, Grace Gifford-Plunkett, Margaret Pearse are featured in Gearóid O'Dea's piece
A new mural has appeared at the corner of George's Street and Dame Street, depicting three of the women who played a major role in 1916.
Revolutionary Countess Markievicz, political cartoonist Grace Gifford-Plunkett, and Margaret Pearse - the mother of Padraig Pearse - are the three women featured in 'Le Chéile i nGruaig', which translates as 'together in hair'.
The Rathmines based artist meticulously crafted the piece in pencil, before it was digitally reproduced and erected overnight - greeting Dubliners, suitably enough, on International Women's Day.
It stands in the same spot where Joe Caslin's iconic Marriage Equality mural appeared last year.
