Fontaines D.C. and Bricknasty among winners at AIM Independent Music Awards
“It was a joyous occasion and a reminder of the continued importance of the independent music sector as the epicentre of creative freedom,” said AIM CEO Gee Davy.
Fontaines D.C. and Bricknasty were among the winners at the AIM Independent Music Awards last night.
XL Recordings had a standout night, winning Best Independent Label, while their leading act Fontaines D.C. took home the award for Best Independent Album for their latest release Romance. This marks another win for the Dublin-based band, following their earlier success at the Music Week Awards.
Meanwhile, emerging Irish act Bricknasty claimed the award for Best Independent Video for their track ‘Vinland’.
The ceremony, held at The Roundhouse in London, recognised figures such as broadcaster Gilles Peterson, who was awarded Outstanding Contribution to Music, and CEO of Key Production Group Karen Emanuel, who won Entrepreneur of the Year. Other winners included Ezra Collective for Best Independent Track for 'God Gave Me Feet for Dancing' and BINA, who took home One To Watch.
Fontaines D.C.’s win follows a successful year for the band, including a Mercury Prize nomination and a sold out tour across Japan, Australia, North America, Europe, and the UK.
