Foggy Notions presents two Haiti crisis benefit concerts, February 14 & 17
The Whelan's gigs, in Association with Concern, will feature Andy Irvine and David Kitt, among others
Concern Worldwide has been working in Haiti since 1994, and since last week's tragedy has launched an emergency appeal for an estimated €5 million, to deal with the consequences of the biggest earthquake in the country in over two centuries.
The appeal is seeking emergency funding for desperately needed food, water, shelter and medicine.
Foggy Notions has collaborated with the charity to put on two fundraiser gigs next month in Whelan's:
Sunday February 14 sees a folk/trad line-up, headed up by Andy Irvine (Planxty/Patrick Street/Mozaik), and supported by a cast of younger generation musicians such as experimental folk ensemble The Spook of the Thirteenth Lock, indie-folk poet laureate Mumblin’ Deaf Ro (full band), trad-kids The Hounds & underground pop recluse Big Monster Love.
Wednesday February 17 will feature David Kitt, 2009 Choice Prize champ Jape (solo electronic), Patrick Kelleher, drums & electronics duo Legion of Two & Goodtime John.
Tickets are €15 from www.tickets.ie or WAV box office [1890 200 078]. Both ticket agents will donate booking fees minus VISA charges to the fund as well.
