Flat Lake Festival line-up announced
Keith Allen, Shane MacGowan & Cillian Murphy are all Clones-bound next month.
The Flat Lake Literary & Arts Festival returns to Hilton Park in Clones from August 14 to 16 with its usual wantonly eclectic bill.
Curated by writer Pat McCabe and film director Kevin Allen, star turns include Shane MacGowan, Keith Allen, Jinx Lennon & Miss Paula Flynn, Eoin MacNamee, Adrian Dunbar, a DJ-ing Cillian Murphy, The Artane Boys Band and Gavin Friday who’s confirmed he has a new album ready to go in the New Year.
Meanwhile, Gavin is acting as “aesthetic midwife” to the U2 360 Tour.
“I help the baby be born,” he explains to the U2 Valencia fansite. “I look at all the things… they’re on stage, they can’t see everything, so I’m their eyes and ears. I understand the four of them very ‘cause I’ve known them for 30 years or more. And so we speak the same language. I don’t blow smoke up their ass.”
Asked how 360 compares to other U2 treks, Gavin proffers: “I don't know... the baby’s still coming out! What's incredible about this, it's that it's so big, but for me it's very intimate. The audience are going to feel this intimacy like I've never seen at a U2 show. But what is the best, what is the biggest? I don't know, I just love it being what it is today.”
