Fiona Prine slams Trump over COVID-19 comments: 'my husband died on his watch'
John Prine passed away in Nashville earlier this year.
Country legend John Prine's wife, Fiona, has slammed Donald Trump as a “fucking idiot” after the President's comments that he deserved an "A+" for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
Prine passed away in Nashville in April 2020, and it prompted an outpouring of tributes from prominent musicians.
His widow, Fiona Whelan Prine, took to Twitter to react after Trump boasted during Tuesday night’s first presidential debate with Joe Biden. “Can someone get that f****** idiot off the stage. My husband died on his watch,” Prine wrote on Twitter.
At the presidential debate, Trump said, "we’ve done a great job! The only thing I haven’t don’t a good job at — is because of the fake news. No matter what you say, they give you bad press on,” he declared. “You could never have done the job I’ve done.”
Responding to a fan who said her comments were “tainting” her husband’s legacy, she said: “You have not truly listened to his body of work if you think that John had anything but distain for the modern Republican Party and all they represent.Trump is the ultimate manifestation of their self-serving hypocrisy.”
More than 200,000 Americans have died of coronavirus to date, and Trump's claims can be proven false by the members of his secret service who fell ill with the virus after helping to assemble a rally in Oklahoma.
