Finland's French films at Eurosonic
The surf rockers played a blinder at the Dutch fest...
Since its inception 27 years ago, Eurosonic Noorderslag has been the festival that truly kickstarts the musical year, with around 300 bands from 30 countries taking over the Dutch city of Groningen for four extremely loud days.
However, it’s not just a festival of live performances. It’s where the EBBA Awards are handed out, amongst several other award ceremonies, and there are three days of daytime music conferences in the De Oosterpoort featuring lectures, debates and discussions about the most pressing topics of the European live scene.
When the conference centre closes, though, the city itself becomes the host, as up to 40 different acts play in venues all over Groningen.
The focus of Eurosonic Noorderslag 2013 is Finland, home to such brilliant acts as Disco Ensemble, Astrid Swan, LCMDF, Reckless Love and Mirel Wagner, to name just a few. The real Finnish stars of this year’s Eurosonic, however, are the misleadingly monikered FRENCH FILMS.
Fresh from the EBBA 2013 ceremony, the award-winning band played an upbeat mix of surf rock, post punk and garage during a late-night set in Vera on Wednesday night. Check them out below...
