'Famous' video wins approval of painter who inspired it
Video now has at least one famous fan
It's no secret that Kanye West's controversial 'Famous' video takes inspiration from Vincent Desiderio's Sleep painting. Now, Desiderio has spoken out about the video.
In short, he likes it.
In a recent interview, Desiderio said Kanye personally invited him to what the painter described as almost a "surprise party". After viewing the video with Kanye, Desiderio said he "almost felt like crying" because of how "absolutely floored and honored" he felt.
The artist gave the video high praise and said the rapper is artistically "on the same page completely" with him. He compared Kanye to Andy Warhol and said meeting him made him realize the depth of the musician's artistic intentions.
