Extra Wow
almost as rubbish as the new MGMt Record
It looks like the recent trend of acts releasing dislocated, unintelligible hook-free misfires that they’re keen to pass off as “art” (*cough* MGMT *cough*) is set to continue, with Portland’s Nice Nice being the latest to adopt this rather confusing approach. And, while this writer is fond of the odd spiraling soundscape, Extra Wow is all style and no substance; in short, they seem like a band that’s out of ideas. Tracks like ‘Set And Setting’ and ‘Big Bounce’ might make some clueless hipsters swoon, but the rest of us will be left feeling cold. Disappointing.
