Electric Picnic and Indiependence in line for festival gongs

The shortlists for the European Festival Awards have been announced, and include good news for two major Irish events.
Electric Picnic has received a nod in the Best Major Festival category, where it faces stiff competition from the likes of Rock am Ring, Sziget and Roskilde.
The Indiependence team, meanwhile, will be celebrating their inclusion amongst the contenders for Best Small Festival.
The winners are announced in The Netherlands on January 15, and Hot Press will have fingers firmly crossed that the Irish representatives can enjoy some well-deserved glory.
