Eircom MusicHub to close
The streaming service will be no more after the end of this month.
Eircom has announced that the MusicHub service it launched in December 2010 is to close on July 31.
Ireland’s first legal free music streaming site, MusicHub started strongly but later found itself eclipsed by the arrival here since of first Deezer and then Spotify.
In a statement to subscribers, they say: “Any music you have already downloaded is saved and is available for use outside of MusicHub. Any download credits will become void after 30th July 2013 – you must ensure that you use your available credit/balance prior to this date.”
On the illegal downloading front, they stress: “eircom’s commitment to the ‘three strikes’ rule is unaffected by the withdrawal of these services. eircom will continue to comply with its legal obligations.”
