Reggae collective Easy Star All-Stars, best known for their dub covers of rock classics, are set to play The Academy in Dublin this Saturday, October 23.
The group first came to the music world's attention in 2003 when they released am interpretation of Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon entitled Dub Side Of The Moon. They went to cover OK Computer with 2006's Radiodread before releasing Easy Star's Lonely Hearts Dub Band in 2009 (covering, you guessed it, the Beatles.) That 2009 record cracked the US Billboard Top 200 twice, becoming the first reggae album to do so.
Their live tours have seen them build up a sturdy fanbase around the world, Radiohead's Johnny Greenwood being one famous admirer - he called their cover of 'Let Down' "truly astounding."
Aside from all the reggae reinterpretations, they have a back catalogue of original material to draw from as well, so The Academy show should prove a nice blend of covers and more original Jamaican sounds.

They'll be joined by special guest Cas Haley - the reality show buffs among you might recognise the singer-songwriter as the runner-up from the second season of America's Got talent.
Tickets for the Academy show on October 23 are priced at €22 inclusive of booking fee and are on sale now.
