E Street Band man Garry Tallent on tour this week in Ireland
His solo album, Break Time, is a country 'n' doo-wop delight!
With the E Street Band enjoying some downtime, Bruce’s trusted guitar-playing lieutenant, Garry Tallent, flies in this week for shows in the Errigle Inn, Belfast (May 30); Set Theatre, Kilkenny (31); Spirit Store, Dundalk (June 1); Whelan’s, Dublin (2); Monroe’s Live, Galway (3) and Dolan’s, Limerick (4) with his own bunch of hotshot players.
He’s plugging the aptly titled Break Time, his first solo outing, which is a musical love letter to his ‘50s and ‘60s heroes.
With Nils Lofgren, Duane Eddy, Johnny Cash bassist David Roe and Jack White/Beck collaborator Fats Kaplin muscling in on the credits, it’s an enthralling affair!
The Hot Press 40th Birthday Special, out on Thursday June 8, will include separate chats with Garry and his fellow E Street Band guitarslinger, Steve Van Zandt, who also has a cracking solo record, Soulfire, out.
