Dua Lipa fires manager after he signed a letter urging Glastonbury to remove KNEECAP
The pop artist has been openly pro-Palestine for years.
Dua Lipa has dropped her longtime manager David Levy, after he was one of the first to sign a letter urging Glastonbury to remove KNEECAP from the lineup.
The singer was unaware of her former manager's involvement until the letter was made public, prompting her decision to part ways.
The letter was said to be signed by 30 industry professionals according to producer Toddla T, who worked with Kneecap on their 2024 debut album Fine Art.
"What we're seeing is a coordinated attempt by 30 members of the musical elite, people with systemic influence, to silence three working-class artists from Belfast. And all of it was done behind closed doors," he said.
"If those individuals truly believe Kneecap shouldn’t perform, why not say so publicly?"
After the letter was revealed over 100 other artists signed a public letter in support of KNEECAP.
Lipa has been publicly supportive of Palestine for years.
Speaking to Rolling Stone in 2023, the artist said, "There are just not enough world leaders that are taking a stand and speaking up about the humanitarian crisis that’s happening, the humanitarian ceasefire that has to happen."
She has yet to comment on her split from Levy.
The news comes after the three time Grammy winner left TaP Music in 2022 and opted to be managed by her father Dukagjin Lipa, citing more control over her career decisions.
Last week, KNEECAP were banned from Canada as they "engaged in actions and made statements that are contrary to Canadian values and laws," said Canadian MP Vince Gasparro.
The Irish rap trio have announced they will take legal action.
