Dirty aul song...
Pierce Turner's cover of Shane MacGowan classic Dirty Old Town to be used on HBO programme The Wire
Pierce Turner is set to "do an Alabama 3" by having one of his songs co-opted onto a hit HBO series.
The American cable network, who are also responsible for the top rated likes of Sex In The City and The Sopranos, are planning to use Turner's version of 'Dirty Old Town' in an episode of cop drama The Wire.
The makers also considered Shane MacGowan's take on the song, but plumped for the Wexford maverick who makes a rare London appearance at Ocean on September 5.

Prior to that comes an August 29 visit to Colfer's in Carrick-On-Bannow, Turner's sole Irish date of the summer.
