Dermot Kennedy postpones North American shows due to illness
The Dublin musician has several upcoming Australian and New Zealand shows following the North American leg of the tour.
Dermot Kennedy announced on Saturday that he has been forced to postpone his North American tour due to laryngitis. He explained that he could face "long-lasting damage" if he continued performing.
He was due to play a show on Saturday night in Atlanta, Georgia. However, in a statement on social media he explained that he had to postpone the rest of his North American dates, due to a prolonged infection.
"I went to see another specialist in Atlanta today, and it turns out the laryngitis still isn’t gone, and because of the infection my vocal cords are still very swollen," he said.
"I can't sing right now, and I wouldn't be able to make it through a show, and if I did force myself to carry on without healing fully, I'd just end up doing real long-lasting damage."
"At this point the best option is to reschedule the remaining dates of this tour so I can come back and give you the show you deserve when the time is right."
A little update. Something to bounce back from. Thank you for always sticking by me. https://t.co/8DP1YlX8Vh

The Dublin singer has several remaining tour dates including Austin, Bellvue, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Vancouver.
Following these shows, he is due to play a number of concerts in Australia and New Zealand in November.
Kennedy released the extended edition of his latest LP, The Weight of the Woods, on September 10. Hot Press rated the album an 8/10, saying that the singer is "possessed of a golden melodic ability and mighty storytelling chops."
The record was the biggest chart debut by an Irish artist on the Irish Albums Chart. It was also his third consecutive No. 1 album in the UK and Ireland, following 2023's Sonder and 2020's Without Fear.
He announced today that he will be playing shows at Cork's Virgin Media Park and Belfast Belsonic in June 2027.
Tickets for the concerts go on sale on Friday, October 16 at 10 am here.
